Tourist visa

The Tourist Visa, also known as a Visitor Visa, is the best when it comes to travel and living the Australian life. This visa enables you to travel and study for up to 3 months. You can arrange job interviews and business meetings, but you cannot work, so there is no salary under this visa. This is the ideal visa if you want to find out if Australia is the place you want to live in before leaving everything and moving more than 16,000 km from home.

It is perfect as well for improving English and experiencing a study holiday in Australia or simply to enjoy an Australian holiday! For Italians it is free of charge and can be applied for at a travel agency or on the Department of Immigration website. The so–called eVisitor (subclass 651) can last up to 12 months, but only in blocks of 3 months, which means that every 3 months it is compulsory to leave the country. If you are already in Australia, it is possible to renew the Tourist Visa without leaving Australia, paying $340: this is the Visitor Visa subclass 600.

It is quite common, after a short stay in Australia, to request a student visa to improve your English or to get a professional qualification. In this case the student visa can be applied for directly in Australia.
